TGIF.

Today was the first Friday that I've actually been working in a long time. I forgot how truly wonderful Fridays feel after a long week at work. Another bonus to my Friday: it was my last day at the middle school. I hope that I never have to teach at a middle school again. EVER. It will be a very long time before I'm ready to deal with the bad attitudes, eye rolling, and disrespect. Not to mention the fact that every time I used the bathroom I had to stare at horrific graffiti bragging about a 7th grade boy's penis size. It got washed off on Monday and the next day it was replaced with a graphic description of sexual acts I didn't hear about until I was in college. It was disgusting and sad. It makes my heart hurt for those kids. Despite how ornery and stubborn and rude most of them were, I would take them all home with me in a heartbeat. Hey, it's nice to feel like you can save the world sometimes.

The downside of my Friday: it's the last one I'll have with Gorilla for a month. He's leaving on Sunday for a training exercise in another state. (yay, I love the Marine Corps!!) I've been trying to avoid thinking about all of the upcoming training and field experiences that are inevitable before the deployment in the spring, but here one is, slapping me in the face. I hate, hate, hate when he's gone. Even though he's been home for 7 months, I still feel like we haven't had enough time to make up for the 13 he was deployed for.

So I'm going to try to make the best of the next day and a night I have with him. Hopefully he'll come home before 8 tonight so I can tell him all night how much I love him.

Hi,
Google Reader recommended you to me. I'm a Navy girlfriend, and I just wanted to stop by and say hi.
