Still alive.

I have been such a blogger slacker lately. And as always, I really have no excuse save for trying to spend time with the hubby. I was so grateful to spend the holidays with him this year (whoa- I guess technically last year) that I wanted to savor every moment. We're also beginning pre-deployment phase of leaving for three weeks every month before the actual D-Day. Gorilla asked me not to count the total number of days he'll be gone before the deployment, so I haven't.

I do, however, know that he will be gone a majority of the time before May. Such is the military. I know this. I guess I'm just a little bummed because he left today (one day before my birthday) and will leave again in February and then once again right before our anniversary. But I'm trying to stay optimistic.

Examples of my optimism:
-I bought the wrong brand of toothpaste-the type with the flip top instead of a screw cap. Gorilla always makes a gigantic toddler-like mess out of these. So with a little relief I finally got it out this morning, knowing that it will stay clean and mess free until he returns. It's the little things folks.

-I won't have to hear his alarm blare fifteen times before he wakes up.

-I can eat cereal or toast for dinner.

-I won't consume ridiculous amounts of beer every weekend.

-We'll save money on gas for a few weeks!

These are the kinds of things I try to find to be positive about. I think secretly I'm just prepping myself for the big day in May.

Enough about depressing stuff- the next few posts will be all about our wonderful holidays!

I have definitely been wondering where you've been lady. I'm glad you were having some much-deserved time with your hubby. The last two Christmas-es LT was prepping to deploy in January, so I really relished our time together this year as well.

Sorry to hear that he's going to be away so much, that definitely sucks. Good list of positives - but it's OK to be bummed too. :)

Can't wait to hear about your holidays, especially your trip to warmer tropical places! :-D
