Although I love my doggies and they are the closest concept to children for me, sometimes they annoy me with their shadowing. I seriously can't go anywhere in my house without them following me. Both of them.
Going to get a drink? We're right behind you mommy! Going to sweep the floor? We're going to follow you around and walk through your dust piles mommy! Going to make the bed? We're right on top of the bed so you can't do it mommy! (Okay, I'll be honest, that only happens when someone is coming over. My bed NEVER gets made) And the worst one- going to the bathroom? We're going to follow you and stare at you and creep you out mommy! And we'll even jump on your legs and beg for attention while you're doing it!
And as much as that last one really, really annoys me, (come on, I need some personal space) today I realized WHY they never did that before Gorilla left. Because I don't close the bathroom door anymore.
And then it really hit me: I'm going to have to re-adjust to a lot of things when he returns, including CLOSING the bathroom door. It's just become natural to walk into the bathroom and get things done. Now I'm going to have to get used to walking into the bathroom and actually closing the door. (we love each other very, very much but that is just one level of comfort that we'll never get to)
Good news: I won't have two little monsters staring up at me anymore when I'm "taking care of business."
