By far the most stressful PCS I have endured to this point has been our move to Hawaii.
The logistics of a move of this magnitude was overwhelming for 99% of the time. And trying to plan everything with my measley power of attorney was at times laughable. With DH deployed the move became a nightmare, and most times I lost sight of what the end result would be.
But here we are, 5 months of LIP (living in paradise) and the pain of the move is just a distant memory. I have no children, but from what I have heard, I can only imagine that this move was similar to child birth. Months and months of planning, pain, anticipation all culminated to this beautiful gift- and then you forget about the pain and stress and just relish in the wonderful-ness of it all.
And that's what we are doing. Loving our life in paradise. I can honestly say that this has so far been the happiest year of my life- right here in the aloha state. I can't imagine being anywhere else, which is scary because I don't know what we're going to do when decision time comes in 2 1/2 years. (eek- it's scary to think that we're almost 6 months into our beautiful, wonderful life here)
So for now we are enjoying our "baby" and forgetting about all the pain and stress involved in getting here. Those labor pains are just a distant memory.

Still reading! Was glad to see your post pop up in my reader today. Happy to hear that it all worked out and that Hawaii is great! Hope it keeps going that way.
So glad to see you back! Moving OCONUS is not an easy task! The good news, if you survived that, you can survive any move from now on!
