My dad is a serious runner. Growing up, we would go on cool trips around Europe and all of the US just to watch him run in marathons. My dad's solution to all of life's problems is simply "Run."
Your dog died? Run.
You have a cold? Run.
You are homeless? Run.
Having a bad day? Run.
Your car not working? Run. (well this one at least makes a little sense)
Hangover? Run.
Seriously, he thinks that the cure for cancer and the solution to world peace is simply that everyone should run.
I used to think he was crazy and would get really annoyed at his answers to all my questions about life. But now I think he may have been on to something.
Since I have been running, I haven't been sick or gotten a cold. I have more energy, my mood is always lifted, and I just feel good about myself. And losing 20+ pounds doesn't hurt either.
BUT the one problem running did not solve for me: conjunctivitis.
I almost made it through this school year illness free. TWO days before the end of the school year and I get pink eye.
The worst part about it? I can't go running because I can't wear my contacts. (I absolutely hate running with my glasses)
Freaking pink eye. I'm immobilized because of a little goop and redness in my eye. (and it didn't come from my pillow, for those of you getting the Knocked Up reference)
