I just had the best Sunday I've ever had without my husband. (and surprisingly, no alcohol was involved. Not that it's a requirement, but I'm just saying...)
One of the wonderful, wonderful teachers I worked with last year asked me to go kayaking with her. I jumped on the chance. I've been wanting to do it for so long, but never got of my lazy butt to do so.
So we drove to the beautiful Emerald Isle and launched kayaks from the dock of a friend's house. (let me tell you how much I'd love to have a house right on the inter-coastal waterway like that! Wow!) And we kayaked out to a little island to walk in the water and enjoy the beauty. It was amazing. (despite that fact that I drenched her in water because of my spastic rowing. I am so uncoordinated. I will always, always try to get a single kayak next time. It's so not fair that I was completely dry and she was soaked!)
This is what it was like:

I love being outdoors. And I love that it was a completely gorgeous day in October and I was lucky enough to enjoy it.
Now I want my own kayak.

3 thought(s) about it:
I'm totally jealous, I looooooooove kayaking. If LT was stationed in NC and I moved down there, I would totally get a kayak. And I would also live in Emerald Isle, I love it up there.
The weather was so beautiful for October, wasn't it? LT and I had a ton of fun at Kings Dominion, and it was especially nice that it wasn't cold and windy - I keep very whiny when I'm cold. :)
Wow that's beautiful! My sister has a kayak. But she's more into the white water kayaking than taking in the scenery kayaking.
Sounds like a wonderful day! I love to kayak. I did once in Alaska and it was one of the best experiences. I think you can get a decent kayak for about $200 at the sporting goods stores.
