I am going to divulge something about myself that will further prove my extreme weirdness:
I LOVE to wrap presents. Seriously. I love picking out beautiful wrapping paper, deciding on the appropriate bow or ribbon, carefully gauging paper length and width to ensure that all ends meet and fold perfectly. I love the satisfaction of making perfect triangles at the ends of boxes, or making a cylindrical object look like a big piece of candy with careful twists and just the right amount of ribbon. I love coming up with new ways to make a ribbon, curl the ribbon, or further accentuate an already perfectly wrapped box. I LOVE to wrap.
I am THAT person who would spend $8.00 on a roll of beautiful wrapping paper that only has 20 square feet on the roll. I am THAT person who loves to buy any type of ribbon at the after-Christmas sales. (although I often misplace it before the next holiday comes around so I must buy more!) And I don't find it odd to spend as much on the wrapping as the present. It's all about presentation.
So one sad, sad aspect of this Christmas is that I have no presents to wrap. Aside from the hastily wrapped ones I put in Gorilla's Christmas package, I've ony wrapped two, for my close friends who live here. And although I did put ribbons on, I didn't get as much enjoyment out of it as usual. Maybe it's because I'm not in the Christmas spirit. It's hard to be when I have NO Christmas decorations out, no Christmas tree, sparkling lights, red and gold ornaments, cheesy garland. Nope, it's all packed away in the garage. And it's really hard to get excited about Christmas when Santa can't bring me the one thing that I want most this holiday- my hubby.
Hopefully when I go to visit my parents I can find that Christmas spirit again. And I can get excited about wrapping presents!! I want to get happy about silver foiled paper, long strands of real ribbon, and invisible tape!
