Decisions, decisions.

Thanks for all of the well wishes regarding my husband's grandfather. He had his surgery on Thursday, spent a few days in ICU and actually got to go home yesterday. The good news is that the surgery went well. The bad news is that the cancer will continue to spread and grow back, so at this point the doctors are going to have him undergo radiation and chemo basically to prolong his life. We are hopeful that he still has a long time left with us and that we can help him live a wonderful, happy life for what time he does have left.

Due to the upcoming move, I was sadly not able to make it out to see the hubby's family. After many rounds of fighting with the transportation office I finally got dates set for the packing of our stuff. They will be here ALL OF THIS WEEK!!! Ack! Trying to get everything ready for them to come has been pure hell. Because we are technically going overseas, the government will allow us to put some stuff into long term storage. Sounds great. But that has just meant that my hands have physically touched almost every item in our house trying to separate things we want in storage versus things we want in Hawaii.

Hard top for the Jeep? probably NOT going to use it in paradise. But then other items are hard to decide on: heavy winter jackets and ski gear? Not going to use it in Hawaii, but what if we take a trip back to the mainland? Dammit. Lawn mower, washer and dryer, weed whacker? If we live in a condo, these would not be necessary. But if we get a house, they would be. That's been the toughest decision of all. But after consulting with the hubby we've decided to store it all- if we are so lucky to get a house while we're over there, we'll worry about it there. For now we have tons and tons of stuff waiting in the storage pile.

And here I am, waiting patiently for the movers to arrive. I hate this part of the military life. Now I know why my mom was always so stressed out during PCS time, and why we have no toys or papers or projects or clothes left from our childhood- it's so much easier to toss or donate than to have to take these things all around the world with you!

Ugh...I really feel you on this. I ended up taking a ton of stuff with us to Italy that I wish I'd just put in storage. I really hope that this move goes smoothly for you!

too bad your not closer, I'd buy the weed wacker off of you.

I'm getting to the point where I have no desire to save anything (and we are in no pcs limbo up here, we aint goin no where) I just think its easier to toss it or give it away and if I need it years down the line I'll buy another.

I always thought PCS'ing was so easy as a kid. Ha! If I'd only known then what I know now...

Good luck with the packing and moving! I'm an Air Force wife and Army Brat and can relate to all the hoopla and craziness. It is pretty stressful, but sooo worth it when you get to your next duty station :)
