Determined.

No exciting news to report in our household.

We've been trying to enjoy our last few weeks together before D day. My only reason for blogging right now is that Gorilla is taking a few spare moments to record some music in his man room. Which leaves me to occupy myself on the computer and pretend that I can't hear him singing beautifully in the background. (he gets embarassed during the recording process but I LOVE IT!)

No news on the house front either. We've lowered our price and will just sit back and hope someone takes the bait. If not, I'm content to chill in our beautiful house and enjoy the summer in our near-beach location after the school year is over.

The only new update in our lives: I've been "training" for a 5k. To some, (ahem, my crazy marathon man, runs 10 miles before breakfast EVERY day just for fun father!) a 5k seems as simple as breathing, but I've never been able to even run a mile without feeling like passing out. I was the kid in gym class that cheated on the 4 lap mile run around the track by jogging 2 laps, walking the 3rd, and telling my teacher I did all 4. So to run 3.1 miles is a HUGE deal for me. So far the farthest I've made it is 2.5. And that's at an embarrassingly s-l-o-w pace. But I'm determined. I WILL make it- even if I have to walk the last .6 miles! So wish me luck.

My goal is to be a running machine before we make it to Hawaii. Okay, never mind. I will never be as devoted to running as my dad, so instead my goal will be to make it more than 3.1 miles. My goal will probably NEVER be to run a marathon, but I would love to make it farther than I'm doing now.

I'm off to go map my neighborhood on a cool website my friend and future 5K buddy told me about: mapmyrun.com. My entire neighborhood, from my front door and back is a little over 3.2 miles. If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere....

Yay for you! I need to start running harder, I've been a total slack @$$ lately. My motivation needs to be my move to San Diego this summer :)

Hawaii, eh? Lucky girl! When are you going?

I'm sure you will do awesome on your running endeavors. :) Have you checked out the "Couch to 5K" program? It uses a combo of walking-jogging to get you up to running the full 5K distance, might be helpful.

Good luck with the house stuff... I need to update the blog, but long story short is that my potential buyer pulled out of the deal after home inspection, without even giving me a chance to respond to the findings. A@@hole. So there have been contractors at my house all month and we're finally going back on the market by Monday. I am keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Good for you! And good luck with the house! Is renting it out an option?

I think you are doing great! If it makes you feel better you can run more than I do. It takes me a long time just to even run two miles.
